Much of my fanfiction is Tolkien-based. It was to post these stories that I bothered setting up this site, to be honest; on my own site I can include everything, regardless of rating, and stories that don't stand alone well can be shown in their proper sequence. Short stories and vignettes are linked directly from this page; multi-chapter ones have their own index pages. The stories are listed according to the Age in which they are set: First, Second, Third (1), Third (2), or Fourth. Story sequences are given in chronological order; all stories are complete except those marked "WIP" to indicate a work in progress. My contra facta, which are filks (songs or poems parodically reworked and set in Middle-earth) have their own section at the end. Drabbles have a page of their own.
All sequences aim to be consistent within themselves; I see all the stories as fitting into the same understanding of the Ardaverse, and being consistent with one another as well, though as noted some of them are explicitly AU to a certain degree whereas others aim to remain within the bounds of canon. This is more a question of what is necessary or appropriate to a given story than a different conception of Middle-earth on my part.

Standard disclaimer for all stories linked directly or indirectly from this page: Most of the persons, places, and some of the events referred to are the property of the Tolkien Estate. Stories marked with a
have been nominated for one or more awards. The story page has further details.
First Age
- The Great Music: A retelling of the Ainulindalë - with just a hint of romance - by one of the Valar, during the Fourth Age. No objectionable content.
- Elements: The story of Nerdanel and Fëanor in several vignettes; in the same storyline as "A Family Affair." Multi-chapter, WIP.
- A Family Affair: In Valinor, Galadriel has a trying moment when talking to her cousin Maedhros. After Maedhros and his other cousin Fingon discuss matters with his mother Nerdanel, the latter confronts his father Fëanor with some hard truths. Somewhat AU, some humor. No language or violence, very mild implied M/M sexual situation. Multi-chapter.

Second Age
- A Choice Once Made: Tar-Míriel, the last Queen of Númenor, reflects on her life as the ships of Númenor sail to the West. Brief reference to implied non-con sex, but nothing explicit; no language or violence.

Third Age
General:
- The Dragon Gem: Whatever happened to all those jewels that Smaug wore as a waistcoat? A girl from Laketown goes treasure-hunting in the water. Vignette. No objectionable content.

- Knife: A very short vignette about a Hobbit supersition. No objectionable content.
- Elves and Potatoes: Mr. Bilbo "learns Sam his letters." No objectionable content.

- In Darkness: The end of a dream in Moria. Very short vignette. No objectionable content.

- Sheathing Sting: While visiting the Dwarves in Erebor, Bilbo goes to Dale to buy a new scabbard for his sword. Vignette. No objectionable content.

The Haldir sequence:
Note: These stories are all AU to varying degrees, for slash and the use of lembas.
- Responsibility: A youthful Haldir learns some lessons about growing up. Vignette. No objectionable content. (Also available in a German translation at Hidden Whispers.)
- In Dreams: Haldir's dreams lead him to decide to join the rangers that protect the Golden Wood. Adult themes.

- Passages: Haldir and Melpomaen find their friendship developing beyond the expected as they travel from the Golden Wood to Dale and back via Mirkwood. This is an adult fic, with explicit M/M sexual situations. Please do not read if you are underage. AU. Multi-chapter.
- Two Rings to Bind Them: Haldir has a gift for his partner. Somewhat fluffy short fic. Reference to M/M, nothing explicit.
- Flame to Smoke: What happens when an eternal bond goes awry? Melpomaen finds himself in Imladris without Haldir; angst and lots of it. Adult themes and sexual references but nothing graphic.
- Shadows of the Past: In Lórien, Gimli hears Haldir and Legolas converse about many things: trees, Dwarves, secrets kept and told. How can the dead be best honored? AU in some respects, primarily bookverse but influenced by the film. Some quite missable innuendo, otherwise no objectionable content.

The Steward's Family sequence:
- Lotheluin: Denethor's first love, and why he waited so long for Finduilas. No objectionable content.

- Courting the Lady: Denethor, Finduilas, and Thorongil [aka Aragorn] - how did Denethor ever end up married to Finduilas of Dol Amroth? Mild adult themes. Multi-chapter.

- A Gift at Year's Turning: In Minas Tirith, Denethor and Ecthelion prepare for the annual Steward's Feast to celebrate the end of the year. Boromir hopes for a sword as his gift, but Finduilas warns him that he may get something else. No objectionable content. Available in a Polish translation from Aiglos: Almanach Tolkienowski [umer 2], but not online.

- Language Lessons: The young Boromir gets two very different lessons in language, from Denethor and Finduilas. No objectionable content.

- Leavetakings: How do you say goodbye? Finduilas of Dol Amroth must make some difficult decisions. Adult themes, mild sexual situations, no violence or language. Multi-chapter.

- The Swimming Lesson: Boromir teaches Faramir to swim. Set in the middle of the time frame covered by "Leavetakings." Vignette. No objectionable content.
- May Endure: Boromir watches Denethor and Faramir, and is confounded by what he sees. Vignette. No objectionable content.

- In His Brother's Shadow: At Henneth Annûn, Faramir mentioned that he had first met Gandalf as a boy. That time must have been a turning point in his life. This story also explores the relationships between Faramir, Boromir, and Denethor. Some mildly adult themes, but no real violence, sex, or language. Multi-chapter.

- Consequences: Faramir makes decisions and has to live with the results. Multi-chapter, WIP.
Fourth Age
The Haldir sequence continued:
- Departing: At the end of Elessar's life, others also chose to depart from Middle-earth. No objectionable content.

The Steward's Family sequence continued:
- The Quarry: Faramir and Éomer run into bad weather while hunting, post Ring War. Somewhat AU. Implied M/M sexual situations. No language or violence.
- Remembering: Faramir spends an afternoon with his memories. Vignette. No objectionable content.
Filks
I've revamped this section; they are now subdivided according to the original artist, since I found that I was usually trying to remember which filk went with which song. Within that they are alphabetized by the title of the filk; the name of the original song is included in brackets at the end. When I have filked more than one title by the same artist or group, they are listed under that group; filks based on musicals are separated; singleton filks appear under other; and holiday filks are at the end.
